Tiger 5K Run/Walk to Benefit Travis Denham

Valley High School's Student Government is hosting our 2nd annual Tiger Run/Walk 5K on May 17th as a fund-raiser to benefit Travis Denham and his family with financial support.

Central Iowa High School College Fair

The Central Iowa High School College Fair will be held at Valley High School Monday, March 3rd, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Student Commons. We are anticipating approximately 90 colleges and universities will be in attendance. All students are encouraged to attend, as well as parents.

Students are required to register prior to the event at: www.gotocollegefairs.com

We are in need of volunteers to help set up, clean up, direct people, hand out materials, and answer questions.  Students can earn Silver Cord hours or Government hours for volunteering.  Workers are needed anytime between the hours of 3:30-8:30 p.m.  Sign up with Mrs. Maly in the Counseling Center. 

To further assist families prepare for college, ICAN (Iowa College Access Network) will be hosting a College Planning Night on the same date, just prior to the fair from 5:00-6:00p.m., in the Valley High School Media Center. Special Education Transition Fair - April 23
Join us for this FREE non-registration Special Education Transition Fair on Wed., April 23 from 4-8 p.m. Build your understanding of support agencies, Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and the Valley educational community. Breakout sessions will be offered. Regardless of educational level or readiness, you will find helpful informaiton on

  • advocacy and support
  • IEP development
  • vocational opportunities
  • post high school preparedness

Tours will also be available. For questions or more informaiton, please contact Randy Dohmen, behavior intervenionist at Valley High School, at 633-4031. You may also contact Meribeth Haynes, Heartland AEA school social worker, at 270-9030 or Mary Watkins, Heartland AEA parent educator, at 270-9030.


Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award
All juniors in an Iowa high school or a home-school program are eligible to apply for this award honoring the 31st U.S. President and his accomplishments. Approximately 15 Iowa high school juniors who propose, and then accomplish, projects of their own design will receive $1,000 awards, with three students going on to receive $5,000 scholarships. Full details are available in the Counseling Center, and online at www.hooverassociation.org. The application deadline is March 31, 2014.

Cafe V
Café V - Open on October 4th
Café V is part of the Culinary Arts Program at Valley High School. This “bistro café” is located in Room 2429 at the high school where lunch will be served from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. on most Fridays (please see schedule on Café V reservation page). Meals are $8. Take-out meals will also be available.

District staff, families, and community members are invited to enjoy lunch at Café V! Reservation are required and can be made by accessing the CAFE V HOMEPAGE or by calling 633-4122. (You will not receive a confirmation e-mail when you make a reservation.) Bon appétit!

Valley Auditorium Seats

Be part of Valley's auditorium history. Purchase an old or new VHS auditorium seat.

Due to the tight schedule in the demolition and construction of the new auditorium, the sale of the seats will be from 8 a.m. to noon June 1. The cost will be $50 per chair; only checks and cash will be accepted. The chair will have to be picked up June 1. Chairs not sold will be removed by the contractors immediately so that they can start the asbestos abatement.

Chairs may be pre-ordered by sending a check to: VHS Fine Arts Fund, c/o Stacy Hansen, Valley High School, 3650 Woodland Ave., West Des Moines, IA 50265. If you do not make arrangements to pick up your chair June 1, your check will be accepted as a donation. You may purchase as many chairs as you like.

TIGER AND TIGER PAW LOGOS APPROVED
Valley TigerLogo files for the public to download and use can be found in the Logo Library. Refer to and follow the guidelines stated in the Brand System Official Usage & Style Guide when using all marks. Any entity which wishes to use the logos for profit must comply with our licensing agreement.

The Board of Education for the West Des Moines Community School District approved tiger and tiger paw logo designs for use throughout the district in an effort create a brand that will instill a sense of pride and unity in the WDMCS. The tiger logo is the first official tiger logo the district has had. READ MORE

 

 


PARKING
Students who park on the side streets are reminded to take note when police parking bans take effect after a snowfall, as the city will issue tickets or tow away the vehicles . REMINDER:  No parking is allowed in Valley lots without a sticker. 


TRANSCRIPTS FOR VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES ONLY
All transcript requests must be in writing including a complete address to which the transcript is to be sent. A fee of $5.00 is charged for each transcript sent for graduates of Valley High School. Checks should be made payable to Valley High School and mailed along with the written request to
